The Beaulieu Estate

Fire Risk Assessment

Client Profile

A stately home open to the public, featuring a world-famous, historically important collection of 285 vehicles, a medieval abbey and a Victorian country house.

Fire Safety Challenge

The Estate is open to the public and offers opportunities for corporate, wedding and social gatherings.  Maintaining a safe environment, and meeting legislative requirements is important to them. With the recent changes in legislation, Beaulieu wanted to make sure that their existing measures and proposed exhibition improvements still met current fire safety legislation and guidance. Additionally, there was a need to address the 'invisible' boundary between the public areas of the house and the private accommodation, each subject to different legislation.

Our Solution

At TecFire, we provided the stately home with clear, comprehensive recommendations to update fire safety measures throughout the premises, ensuring full compliance with current regulations. Our approach included:

  • Fire Risk Assessments of all public areas.
  • Design a Fire Strategy covering proposed improvements
  • Guidance on upgrading existing doors to meet fire door standards.
  • Strategies for effective compartmentation of cellars and loft spaces.
  • Enhanced monitoring protocols for fire safety equipment and policies.
  • Expert advice tailored to the unique needs of the private accommodation is crucial for maintaining a low-risk environment in a listed building.

By implementing our recommendations, the Beaulieu Estate successfully addressed its fire safety challenges, achieving a higher standard of safety for both public and private areas.
